Kerala floods | Normal train services to take more time

Even as the works to repair the rail infrastructure damaged in the recent floods are in full swing, train services in the State will be fully restored and be back to normal only by month-end.
The speed restrictions being imposed in some corridors and cancellations of passenger trains to take up restoration works will be withdrawn towards the month end, Divisional Railway Manager, Shirish Kumar Sinha told The Hindu.
In all, 3 to 4 kms of railway track had been damaged. Work is still on in the Vallathol Nagar-Wadakancherry, Wadakancherry-Mulankunnathukavu and Thrissur-Guruvayur corridors, the worst hit by the floods and landslips. Mr. Sinha said water seepage is still a headache in the Wadakancherry side and speed restrictions of 45 km per hour have been imposed on the stretch.
